Tai Chi
The Arboretum provides a serene, natural backdrop for this graceful, meditative form of exercise. Class is held inside the Arboretum building with a view of forest. Sifu Dale Napier is certified in a form of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan and is a gold medal winner in tournament competition.
Cost is $50 for July (5 sessions); or $15 per session.

Kid/Family Yoga
Ages 4 and up
This yoga class, designed especially for children and/or families includes basic yoga in a fun, imaginative class imitating animals and plants found in the Arboretum.  Instructor Su Marshman is an early childhood and special education instructor who has been teaching yoga to children since 1999.
Cost per session is $10 for children; $5 for adults.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Gardening Organically
By employing principles of organic gardening, learn to use composting, proper watering techniques and proper plant selection to create a landscape attractive to birds, butterflies and more.
Instructor Glenn Olsen is a past president of the Native Plant Society of Texas.
Cost: $95 for members; $110 for non-members.

Why fight the traffic?  Slow down and relax.  Restorative Yoga is every Thursday in the Arboretum's classroom (with a view of the forest) . Cost is $40 for April or $15 per session. For more information, call 713-681-8433. Registration is required.

Ages 5 to 12
A Nature Ranger explores, investigates and protects the natural environment. Learn the skills rangers use to protect and improve ecosystems. Investigate the environment through experiments, games and hands-on activities.
Cost is $230 for members, $270 for non-members.

Explore Buffalo Bayou by Canoe
Spend the afternoon in a canoe on Buffalo Bayou and explore its natural history.  This stretch of bayou flows between I-610 and Shepherd Drive, one of the wildest portions of the bayou, and includes the Arboretum and Memorial Park.  The trip will be preceded by a mandatory orientation at the Arboretum on Thursday evening prior to the trip.  This outdoor class is one of series of trips sponsored by the Arboretum and Whitewater Experience founder Don Greene. While canoeing experience is not necessary, a desire to learn definitely is. The natural history of the bayou, including erosion issues, geology, plants, birds and mammals, will be explored in-depth.
Cost is $85 for members, $95 for non-members. Pre-registration required.

Nature Photography for Students (ages 10-18)
This week-long class for students ages 10 to 18 will use the nature wonderland of the Arboretum for hands-on learning. Nature photographer Shelley Khan will work with students using either “point-and-shoot” digital or SLR cameras to make sharp, colorful, well-composed nature photographs. 
Instructor Shelly Khan is a teacher with Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.  She has taught art in public education as well as private lessons and incorporates her knowledge of art in her nature photography.
Cost is $150 for members, $180 for non-members.

Nature Trekkers Summer Camp: Living on the Edge – Endangered Species
Ages 5 to 12
Have you ever seen a Red Wolf, a Texas Horned Lizard, a Houston Toad or a White-nosed Coati?  These animals are all native to Texas, yet seldom seen because they are either endangered or threatened species. Learn about the rarest of Texas animals and the reasons for their rarity through games, educational crafts and outside activities.
