After Camp classes require a minimum number of participants and may be cancelled the Wednesday before camp if the minimum (8) is not met.

May I enroll my child in a camp for an older age group?

No. Age requirements are strictly enforced. Campers must fall within the specified age range during the week of camp they are attending.

Is there a daily rate for summer camp? My child only needs to attend the After Camp class 2 days of the week, what do I pay?

There are no prorated or daily fees. Full weekly fees are required even if your student may not be attending for the whole week.

What should my child wear?

Children should wear play clothes and, for safety, wear closed toe shoes. All of our classes explore the nature sanctuary grounds. If your child has problems with mosquitoes, they might be more comfortable if they put on a light weight, long sleeved shirt before outdoor activities.

Should I send an extra set of clothes?

Campers may get muddy or wet during their explorations. You can send an extra set of clothes in their backpacks.

What about mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are present all summer in the Arboretum. Repellents with the active ingredient DEET are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. We provide mosquito repellent with 7% DEET.

What are your teachers’ qualifications?

Our teaching staff is made up of highly experienced Staff naturalists, certified educators or college interns. All instructors and volunteers pass a background check.

Do you provide snacks?

No. Please send your child with a snack and water for the morning break and another one if they are staying for the afternoon session. If you are enrolling your child in an After Camp class, please include another light snack.

Do you provide lunch?

Campers must bring their own lunch.

My child needs medication. Will you administer it?

No, the Arboretum is unable to administer medication to children. Please arrange your medication schedule to fall outside of camp hours. Please do alert us about any allergies.

How are campers supervised?

Each class is staffed with one or two experienced adult teachers (depending on class size) and two or more adult volunteers or student interns. Campers are escorted to/from restrooms and water fountains.

What are the Camp Hours?

Camp is from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. for the full day session. The half day session is 9 a.m. until noon. Optional After Camp classes are from 3 to 5p.m.

Is there before & after Camp Care?

We do not offer before and after camp care. In the morning, you may sign your child in as early as 8:30 am. After camp, you will need to pick up your child promptly at the end of the session: noon for mornings only or 3 p.m. for the full day camp. If your child is enrolled in the After Camp class, please be here to pick him/her up promptly at 5 p.m. We charge $1 a minute for every minute your child is here after the scheduled class end time.

What are Camp Sign in/Sign Out procedures?

You will sign-in your child when you drop him or her off in the morning and sign-out when you pick them up at the end of the day. You will need to notify us in writing of anyone other than parent/legal guardian that may be picking up your child.
